Diane DeTerra, Ph.D.

Director, is a development anthropologist and has extensive experience leading economic, social and cultural development projects in Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America. From this experience she has learned that no matter how significant the funding, no matter how brilliant the design, without peace as the foundation, without harmony among beneficiaries who understand that they are one, no project is sustainable.

She is the former Dean of the Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation, Monterey Institute of International Studies, a Fullbright scholar and graduate of the Ecole de traduction et d"interpretation, University of Geneva. She holds a PhD in social anthropology, School of Oriental and African Studies (Chinese in Southeast Asia) and London School of Economics. Diane is also a specialist in cross-cultural communication, negotiation and mediaton and was a United Nations conference interpreter./p>

As a Buddhist practitioner, with a MSc in Medical Qigong, the experience of selflessness provides insights for enlightened social action based on (responsibility for self and others and) generosity as the root of evolutionary progress. She is inspired by the educational evolutionism of Children of the Earth.
